Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a physician referral?

  • No! Colorado is a “direct access” state, meaning you do not need a physician referral to see a licensed physical therapist. The only exception would be if your insurance requires one for out-of-network reimbursement. After evaluation, if the therapist feels it’s appropriate or necessary for you to be seen by a physician, you will be referred out at that point.

Do you take my insurance?

  • We are not contracted with any insurance companies and do not bill insurance. Upon request you will be given a Superbill (a receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for any available out-of-network reimbursement.

Why don’t you bill insurance?

  • We are committed to providing the highest quality of care to our patients. The ability to bypass insurance rules and regulations and spend more time with you each visit allows us to do just that. We believe this will save you time and money in the long term. If you’d like to read more about this out-of-netowrk model please click below.

How do I submit for reimbursement?

  • Before your first visit, contact your insurance company to inquire about your out-of-network benefits and learn of any requirements you need before starting PT. Upon request, you will be provided a Superbill (a receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for any potential reimbursement. How often will I need to come in?

  • This is dependent on each individual situation. You will not be seen 2-3 times a week for 6-8 weeks as you would at most PT clinics. We will tailor each plan of care to suit the individual needs, but it’s likely that your visits will be once a week or once every other week until symptoms are resolved and function is restored. Your physical therapist will discuss the plan with you after evaluation is completed.

What should I expect during my visit?

  • Initial Evaluation: Your physical therapist will do a thorough evaluation of your symptoms, physical limitations, and goals. This will be followed by a physical exam and treatment. Together we will establish a plan of care that is appropriate for your needs.

  • Follow-up Visits: Depending on the plan of care we established at time of evaluation, treatment will consist of hands on therapy and functional, restorative exercises. Hands on therapy may include joint mobilization, manipulation, soft tissue mobilization, and dry needling.

  • What to wear: Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing that will expose or allow easy access to the area of concern.

How much will Physical Therapy cost?

  • Cost for physical therapy ranges from $55-$135 based on type and length of appointment. For services and pricing, please refer to the Services page of this website.

How are you different from other physical therapy clinics?

  • At Dara Wellness and Physio we have the privilege of spending an hour of one-on-one time with you to maximize the benefit of your PT visit. You will never be passed off to an aide or tech to run you through repetitive exercises or unnecessary modalities. You will save money by avoiding expensive and unnecessary physician visits and imaging costs. Our focus is on YOUR goals, not what the insurance company dictates.

What is dry needling?

  • Dry needling is a tool that may be used to provide quick and effective relief of pain, increased mobility, and improved performance. It is a skilled technique that uses a thin needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, muscular, and connective tissues for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments.  Dry needling is used to treat dysfunctions in muscle, fascia, and connective tissue, to reduce pain, and lead to improved activity and participation.
